The origins of Swenox are to be found in a car assembly plant which was established on the Nyköping site in 1948.

In 1960, SAAB bought the company and turned it into a factory for car components, including exhaust systems. 

In 2001, the company was acquired by the UK-based Hexadex Group, which has interests in both OEM and aftermarket sectors of the truck and bus market.
